Overview

UpgradeDaddy is a US-based e-commerce brand focused on offering upgraded PC hardware, including desktops, laptops, GPUs, and more. With a legacy rooted in traditional retail and service-based operations, they aimed to modernize their digital presence with a fully functional Shopify store. Kolachi Tech was brought on board to automate the product import process from multiple suppliers and build a scalable foundation for product transformation directly within Shopify.

The objective was to transition the store into a high-volume, data-efficient platform capable of handling thousands of tech SKUs — while ensuring speed, accuracy, and data consistency.

Challenges

• High Volume of Product Data: UpgradeDaddy needed to import large volumes of product data from various distributors. Manual uploading was inefficient and prone to error.

• Unstructured Supplier Data: Product data came in inconsistent formats (CSV, JSON, XML), often with missing attributes, pricing inconsistencies, or unclean HTML.

• Custom Business Logic for Transformation: The client required rules for transforming incoming product titles, descriptions, prices, and variants before they were published on Shopify.

• Time-Consuming Manual Updates: Existing methods took hours to clean, import, and categorize products, stalling the go-to-market timeline.

• Need for Automation and Speed: With rapidly changing inventory, there was a need to streamline and accelerate the product publishing process without compromising data integrity.
